How do students come to understand that they play the leading role in contributing to a universityﾕs body of knowledge?

We believe that it is very important to understand the university that one is enrolled at.

For this reason, Kyushu University is the first public university in Japan that to teach a course about its own history and the role of the university in society.

This course seeks to maximize the use of the materials stored in Kyushu Universityﾕs archives.

As Kyushu University pursues its goal of becoming a Center of Excellence, the archives which collect and store documents regarding university administration (produced by the Administration Office) make a very important contribution to the research of the history and structure of Kyushu University.

Last year in October the course was awarded the first ever Kyushu University Presidentﾕs prize.
